Platinum Pro-Claim Restoration has the Greenest Cabinet Shop in Canada

Platinum Pro-Claim’s Cabinet Shop is the greenest in Canada. All of the wood used to make their cabinets is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and they use water-based finishes that are VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) free. Their finishing process also recaptures and recycles over 95% of the water used.

How it all started

PPCR is a full-service insurance restoration company that has been helping clients with their claim needs for over 32 years. They have a team of experienced professionals who are dedicated to providing the best possible service to their clients. PPCR is committed to providing the highest quality workmanship and customer service in the entire Canadian restoration industry.

PPCR was founded in 1991 when Tony Scott dreamt of creating a restoration company that got homeowners back into their homes faster while creating a positive and fun place to work. Since the beginning, Tony knew that creating supporting departments would help reduce the cycle time in the claims process; he started by opening up PC Flooring in 1997 and then, after merging with Platinum Pacific Restorations in 2008, opening PC Cabinets in 2015.

PC Cabinets specializes in restoring cabinets affected by, but not limited to, water damage, fire damage, smoke damage, vandalism or mould/asbestos. Cabinetry within the restoration industry is unique due to the challenge of stain-matching cabinets that are made yesterday all the way to 1950. Today, PPCR is proud to operate the greenest, and safest cabinet shop in Canada.

What are Volatile Organic Compounds?

Volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, are gases that are emitted from certain solids or liquids. They can be found in a wide variety of products, including paints and lacquers, cleaning supplies, office equipment, adhesives, and building materials. In cabinetry, VOCs are produced by off-gassing when materials are stained using traditional solvent-based finishes.

Exposure to VOCs can cause a variety of health effects, including eye and respiratory irritation, headaches, dizziness, and nausea. Some VOCs are also known to cause cancer.

PPCR is committed to reducing exposure to VOCs in the workplace by using low-VOC products whenever possible and providing ventilation during work activities that could release VOCs into the air.

What is off-gassing?

Off-gassing is the release of volatile chemicals from products or materials into the air. These chemicals can be harmful to human health, so it’s important to reduce exposure to them as much as possible.

In traditional, solvent-based finishes it takes cabinets on average, 30 days to fully cure and to stop off-gassing toxic VOCs. With water-based finishes there are no VOCs, therefore after the cabinets are dry, they can be installed immediately, reducing cycle times in the claims process.

PPCR takes a number of steps to minimize off-gassing, including using low-VOC (volatile organic compound) products and materials, ensuring proper ventilation, and using air purifiers. By taking these precautions, PPCR is able to provide a safe and healthy environment for its clients and staff.

Benefits of Formaldehyde-Free Sheet Goods

Formaldehyde-free sheet goods are becoming more and more popular as people become aware of the health hazards associated with formaldehyde exposure. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, and has been linked to respiratory problems, headaches, and other health issues. Formaldehyde-free sheet goods are made without the use of formaldehyde-based resins, and are therefore much safer for both workers and occupants of buildings where they are used.

There are many benefits to using formaldehyde-free sheet goods, including improved indoor air quality, reduced health risks, and increased sustainability. Formaldehyde-free products are also often less expensive than their formaldehyde-containing counterparts.

In Conclusion

Platinum Pro-Claim is constantly striving to be the best restoration company in Canada; with our partners at GUS, it is our goal to elevate the industry and create a more sustainable future for generations to come. By using water-based finishes and formaldehyde-free sheet goes PPCR and its partners are able to reduce cycle times while keeping both customers and staff safe.

At its very core, Platinum Pro-Claim exists to help others in need by developing people, caring for the planet, building communities and restoring homes.
